Job summary

Parsons is seeking a Frontend Engineer to develop next-generation, mission-critical applications for defense and national security missions. You will design responsive, intuitive user interfaces that help operators and decision-makers understand complex environments, working with geospatial data, maps, and real-time streams.

You will collaborate with UX/UI designers, product owners, systems engineers, and end users to create effective experiences.

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field with 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• Experience with React and TypeScript in frontend applications.
• Strong knowledge of modern JavaScript (ES6+) and asynchronous programming.
• Experience with geospatial data or mapping technologies (OpenLayers, CesiumJS, Mapbox, etc.).
• Experience with frontend testing (Jest, Cypress, Playwright).
• Ability to work in a mission-focused, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Design frontend architecture using React, TypeScript, and modern state management.
• Build geospatial visualizations with OpenLayers, CesiumJS, WebGL.
• Work with large geospatial datasets and real-time data streams.
• Optimize performance and latency on hardware-constrained systems.
• Develop data-intensive workflows with asynchronous programming and web workers.
• Integrate secure APIs and cloud-native services with backend/DevOps.
• Collaborate with UX/UI designers, product owners, and engineers.
• Write maintainable, tested code and contribute frontend standards.
• Mentor junior engineers and establish good development practices.
• Contribute to the technical direction and tool evaluation.
