Job summary

NV5, Inc. is seeking a Survey Field Technician in California to support field data collection for land development and infrastructure projects. You will operate total stations, GPS receivers, levels, and related tools while collaborating with engineers and surveyors.

You will document measurements, maintain equipment, and assist in boundary analysis, safety compliance, and report generation. Role requires outdoor work and travel up to 50% as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required. Some roles may need associate degree or technical surveying training.
• Prior field survey experience is a plus but entry-level acceptable.
• Proficiency with surveying instruments, GPS, and related software is expected.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field surveys to collect data on boundaries, topography, and parcel information.
• Set up and operate surveying instruments, ensure calibration and maintenance.
• Record data accurately in field notes, sketches, and digital formats.
• Identify property boundaries by interpreting records and legal documents.
• Follow safety protocols to ensure a safe fieldwork environment.
• Collaborate with surveyors, engineers, and project managers to support projects.
• Maintain and repair surveying equipment as needed.
• Review data for accuracy and completeness; generate survey reports and maps.
