Job summary

NV5 is seeking a motivated Field Utility Services – Field Technician to support utility infrastructure documentation and field data collection. The role focuses on capturing high-quality geospatial imagery and asset data across utility corridors, roads, and construction sites.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, comfortable outdoors near traffic, and eager to grow into engineering, design, surveying, or project management opportunities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 0–2 years of field operations, utility services, construction, surveying, telecommunications, or related experience.
• Ability to operate mobile technology, tablets, smartphones, and cloud-based applications.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to travel to project sites as required.

Responsibilities

• Operate scanning and reality capture equipment to collect utility asset and infrastructure data.
• Capture georeferenced imagery and field documentation for utility, telecommunications, transportation, and civil infrastructure projects.
• Perform field data collection activities along utility corridors, rights-of-way, roadways, and construction sites.
• Verify asset locations and document field conditions using mobile applications and GIS-enabled platforms.
• Upload, organize, and maintain project data in accordance with company quality standards.
• Assist senior field staff with utility investigations, site assessments, and infrastructure documentation.
