Geospatial Database Administrator

Innovate! Inc. is seeking a highly motivated individual to join its geospatial solutions team as a Geospatial Database Administrator. You may be called upon to assist with the design, development, and maintenance of geospatial applications through the concept, design, and implementation phases. Your role will also include supporting other personnel in utilizing GIS applications and software as well as interfacing with clients and teaming partners.

We are seeking self-starting individuals with a “Let me at it” attitude who can adapt to a fluid work environment and an occasionally demanding schedule. Location: Candidate can work remotely.

Salary Range: USD 65,000-90,000 annually

Position Status: Full Time; with benefits *Contingent upon contract being awarded*

Due to the nature of this work and requirements from our clients, candidates must reside in the US and be authorized to work in the US to be eligible for this role.

SKILLS, ABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performing/automating quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) procedures/checks on geospatial data.
  • Creating, automating, and optimizing Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) Web Feature Services (WFS)/ Web Mapping Services (WMS) and ESRI Web Feature Services (WFS)/ Web Mapping Services (WMS)/Vector Tile Services.
  • Creating and automating metadata content for geospatial datasets/web services.
  • Automation/scripting skills to load/update metadata for a web service and perform “search and replace” functions on metadata.
  • Designing, implementing and managing geodatabases at an enterprise/multi-user level on the latest versions of Microsoft SQL Server and ESRI ArcGIS Server.
  • Preparing documentation to discuss and explain programming execution with non-IT personnel in the agency.
  • Using Microsoft SQL Server for database design, implementation, and maintenance utilizing geospatial data and associated non-geospatial data; system administration experience is a plus.
  • Experience supporting GIS end users including ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS for Server, ArcGIS Data Store, COTS and/or custom business applications and troubleshooting application and/or database issues.
  • Programming data processing scripts; including knowledge of Python, JavaScript, C#, Esri interoperability extension and/or ASP.NET a plus.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 4 years of experience designing, implementing, tuning, and analyzing geospatial databases including, but not limited to, SQL Server, dBase, distributed databases, enterprise geodatabases, ESRI file geodatabases, ArcGIS Data Store, and PostgreSQL; with a demonstrated capability installing and configuring ArcSDE.
  • At least four (4) years of experience supporting large-scale GIS projects performing needs assessment, data creation/migration, data maintenance and dissemination. Experience with big data languages/programs that are sufficient in handling and manipulating big geospatial datasets are desired.
  • Experience with using and manipulating both geospatial vector and raster data in a geospatial database.
  • Experience with the remaining suite of ESRI software, including:
    • ArcPro (desired)/ArcMap
    • ArcCatalog
    • ArcToolbox
    • Spatial Analyst
    • Network Analyst
    • ArcGIS Server
    • ArcGIS Enterprise Online (AGOL)
    • ArcGIS Enterprise Portal
    • Esri Interoperability extension
