Gallo invites applications for a Geospatial Data Science Internship in Modesto, CA. The role focuses on GIS, remote sensing, and machine learning to enhance vineyard management, yield, and wine quality.

You will work with cross-disciplinary teams to advance digital agriculture and support research and production initiatives. The internship runs May–December as a full-time onsite position, requiring enrollment in or recent completion of relevant degree programs and a willingness to work

Qualificações

• Enrolled or recently graduated with a degree in a technical field related to GIS/Geospatial science.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills are required.
• Able to work full-time for the duration of the internship (May–December).
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays when needed.

A Taste of What You’ll Do Join our team as a GIS (Geospatial Data Science) and be at the forefront of innovation in wine grape production. As an intern, you will contribute to research and production support initiatives that aim to enhance yield, fruit composition, and wine quality. You will work alongside experts from various Winegrowing Research disciplines and collaborate with internal partners and leading industry and academic collaborators.

• Interns will develop and apply GIS and remote sensing solutions for advancing vineyard management and grape production practices.
• Assigned tasks include utilizing machine learning techniques to monitor crop health, disease detection, yield prediction, and vine water status.
• Interns will learn how GIS is applied to wine grape production across a wide-range of California production regions, grape varieties, and growing practices.

What You’ll Need

• Currently enrolled at a college or university and working towards a Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in the School of Computer Science, School of Engineering, Agricultural Sciences, Life Science, or Natural Resources; OR have obtained a Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in the School of Computer Science, Engineering, Agricultural Sciences or Natural Resources.
• Available for the entire duration of the internship program area(s) of interest.
• Strong applied technical skills and analytical problem-solving skills.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Requires availability to work evenings, weekends and holidays when necessary.
• Required to be 21 years of age.
