Job summary

GALLO is seeking a GIS (Geospatial Data Science) intern to advance digital agriculture in wine grape production. You will process geospatial data from satellite, drone imagery, soil maps, and climate data to support research and production goals.

You will apply machine learning to monitor crop health, detect diseases, predict yield, and assess vine water status, using Python, R, and cloud-based processing to build robust spatial databases.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled at a college or university pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in CS/Engineering/Agricultural Sciences/Natural Resources, or have already earned one.
• Willingness to commit to the full duration of the internship (June–December 2027).
• Strong applied technical and analytical problem-solving skills; good oral and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Process and analyze geospatial data from satellite and drone imagery, soil maps, climate information, and ground observations.
• Apply machine learning to monitor crop health, disease detection, yield prediction, and vine water status.
• Use Python, R, and cloud computing to automate spatial data processing and help develop spatial databases.
