Job summary

WGI, Inc. is seeking a Geospatial AI Intern for Fall 2026 in our Huntsville, AL office. The role focuses on hands-on, project-based AI/ML work within a geospatial environment and real client projects.

The ideal candidate is an undergraduate in Computer Science, Engineering, or GIS with interest in remote sensing and spatial analytics. The internship offers mentorship, exposure to ArcGIS/QGIS, GDAL, and cloud geospatial platforms.

Qualifications

• Current enrollment in a 4-year degree program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Geospatial Science, Data Science, or related STEM field.
• Completed coursework in programming (Python preferred), data structures, or ML fundamentals.
• Interest in geospatial data, remote sensing, and AI/ML applications.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparation and cleaning of geospatial data (satellite imagery, lidar, vectors).
• Support development and evaluation of AI/ML models for geospatial applications (feature extraction, classification, segmentation).
• Use tools such as Python, ArcGIS, QGIS, Solv3D, and cloud-based geospatial platforms.
• Help build and test geospatial workflows and automation pipelines.
• Contribute to data visualization tasks, creating maps and summaries of AI model results.
• Document code, processes, and findings clearly and reproducibly.
• Collaborate with lidar GIS data scientists on active projects.
• Attend team meetings and contribute to technical discussions.
