SpaceWorks Enterprises is seeking an energetic student intern in Atlanta to support aerospace engineering tasks. The role focuses on fundamental analyses, documentation, and collaboration with multiple teams.

Ideal candidates are pursuing BS/MS/PhD in aerospace, electrical, or mechanical engineering with leadership experience, strong communication, and a solid GPA. This in-person opportunity is tailored for motivated students aiming to contribute to DoD and aerospace programs.

Qualifications

• College student pursuing a degree (BS, MS, or PhD) in aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
• Involvement / leadership in campus organizations and strong GPA.
• Strong written and verbal communications skills.
• Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio usage.
• Windows and Linux operating systems familiarity.
• Familiarity with basic version control systems.
• Engineering fundamentals: apply first-principles and rough sizing by hand.
• Technical documentation: create and interpret engineering drawings and reports.
• Familiarity with modeling in Python and/or MATLAB.
• Must work in-person in Atlanta, GA.
• Must be a U.S. citizen and eligible to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.

SPACEWORKS

At SpaceWorks Enterprises, we specialize in next-generation high-speed flight systems,humanand robotic spacecraft, as well as entry, descent & landing technologies. Our core competencies include conducting preliminary design of aerospace concepts, performing detailed multidisciplinary engineering analysis, developing commercial aerospace software, prototyping spacecraft hardware components, and conducting market and economic research within the aerospace industry. We serve clients from the Department of Defense, NASA, and the commercial space sector.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR (ALL)

• College student pursuing a degree (BS, MS, or PhD) in aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR (BY TEAM)

Aerosciences

Aerodynamics and Aerothermal focus areas

• CFD (for aerodynamics or aerothermal, at least one of the following)- Star-CCM+, FUN3D, ANSYS-Fluent, OpenFOAM, CBAero, Cart3D
• Thermal Analysis Tool (for aerothermal, would want at least one of the following) - Thermal desktop, Ansys, FIAT
• Bonus Points - CAD tool (at least one of the following)- ESP, NX, CATIA, SolidWorks, and/or PTC Creo

Propulsion

• Fundamental understanding of propulsion systems including fluid mechanics, thermodynamics,heat transfer,and combustion
• Interest in a variety of aerospace propulsion systems including rockets, RDREs, cold gas thrusters, turboramjets, and scramjets
• Proficiency in computer aided design (CAD) tools such as SolidWorks,Unigraphics NX, CATIA, and/or PTC Creo
• Thermal Analysis Tool (for aerothermal, would want at least one of the following) - Thermal desktop, Ansys, FIAT

GNC

• Relevant work or project experience in Guidance, Navigation, Control, Modeling & Simulation, and Flight Testing
• Experience in multidisciplinary design optimization in Matlab, Python, and/or Julia

Systems Analysis

• Flight Performance key metrics and how they affect a system (T/W, range equation, wing loading, etc)
• Experience with trajectory optimization software, CFD tools, MATLAB/Simulink, or equivalent simulation platforms

Software

• Proficient in at least 1 programming languages: Rust, Java, Python, C/C++

Structures

• Proficiency in computer aided design tools such as Solid Edge, Unigraphics NX, SolidWorks, CATIA, and/or PTC Creo
• Working knowledge of one or more structural FEA software tools such as ANSYS, Nastran, FEMAP, or Abaqus
