Requirements include a high school diploma, Kentucky Nurse Aide Certification, and BLS with a 30-day attainment window.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Current Kentucky Nurse Aide Certification or equivalent clinical training.
• BLS certification required; must obtain within 30 days of hire.
• Experience in laboratory, data entry, phlebotomy or related screenings preferred.
• Previous laboratory or customer service experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist ED RN and care team to manage patient flow and care.
• Provide direct patient care and maintain safety and cleanliness of the unit.
• Collect, transport, and process specimens per hospital policy; assist with lab testing as needed.
• Support communication with patients and families and document care activities.

The Nursing Assistant II (Emergency Department Technician) functions within the multidisciplinary team that cares for the ED patient under the direction and supervision of the ED Registered Nurse. Demonstrates excellent communication and coordination of patient care/department flow. Working knowledge of appropriate computer functions and systems for assigned duties. Maintains work area to ensure efficient operation and workflow. Collects, processes, transports and analyzes specimens according to approved standards of testing per laboratory policies and procedures. Demonstrates proficiency in patient care, according to hospital policies and procedures.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Current Kentucky Nurse Aide Certification required or successful completion of first year clinical classes in nursing school and validation of a clinical consistent with level of education.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. If not already certified, applicants must obtain BLS within 30 days of their hire date.
• Previous laboratory or customer service experience preferred.
• Data entry and computer experience and /or phlebotomy, point of care testing experience preferred.
