ABOUT THE POSITION

VHB’s New England Region is seeking a Geomatics Equipment Operator to join our team. Check out VHB’s Geomatics service page to learn more about this team and our capabilities!

Responsibilities

• Perform land surveying tasks under the supervision of senior Land Surveyors, including operation, transport, and setup of surveying equipment such as Robotic total stations, data collectors, and GPS
• Conduct boundary, topographic, construction stakeout, and utility surveys
• Recover land surveying markers using hand tools and digging
• Execute construction stakeout including installation of stakes with hand tools and sledgehammers
• Maintain and operate surveying equipment
• Record survey data and field notes clearly and accurately

Skills and Abilities

• Ability to read and interpret survey, right-of-way, engineering, and architectural drawings
• Willingness to learn GPS and robotic instrument operation, along with basic geometric concepts
• Understanding of boundary, topographic, construction, and utility surveys
• Critical thinking skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• AutoCAD experience is a plus

Qualifications

• 0-1 year of experience or willingness to learn survey equipment
• High school diploma or GED
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
• Ability to transport survey equipment and navigate difficult terrains
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs
• AutoCAD Civil3D and Leica survey equipment experience are desirable but not required
