Job Summary

The Operator is responsible for operating machinery required for installing aerial conduit, cables, transformers, pull boxes, transformer pads, and switchgear. This role supports the Line team and collaborates with department personnel.

Responsibilities
  1. Operate jobsite equipment safely, including cranes, bulldozers, excavators, trenchers, and other construction machinery.
  2. Perform safety checks and minor repairs on equipment, check oil and fluids.
  3. Inspect and stake work areas prior to digging, ensuring safety around utilities.
  4. Assist maintenance crews or laborers when not operating equipment.
  5. Work around underground and overhead utilities safely.
  6. Supervise or guide lower-grade operators and laborers as needed.
  7. Follow safety standards and work practices per MasTec or customer standards.
  8. Load trucks safely and efficiently.
  9. Improve operations by streamlining work processes and providing quality customer service.
  10. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 1 year of relevant experience
  • Valid driver’s license
  • OSHA 10 Certification
  • Background check and drug screening
  • CDL Class A license
Preferred
  • 2 or more years of experience
Physical Demands and Work Environment

This role operates in the field, requiring extended periods of physical activity including bending, climbing, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working in various weather conditions. Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination are essential.
