Placements24 is seeking a motivated Junior Geologist for an internship in Welkom, focused on geological fieldwork and analysis within a mining environment. You will support senior teammates in resource evaluation, mapping, and sample collection, gaining practical experience and networking opportunities in the South African mining sector.

Qualifications

• Recent graduate with a Bachelor's degree in Geology or Earth Sciences.
• Basic understanding of geological principles, mineralogy, and structural geology.
• Familiarity with geological mapping techniques and field sampling methods.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and follow instructions meticulously.
• Good physical fitness for fieldwork in varying environmental conditions.
• Basic proficiency in relevant software, such as Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Assist senior geologists with geological mapping and data collection in active mine sites.
• Prepare and analyze rock and core samples for mineral content and quality assessment.
• Maintain geological databases and assist in creating geological models and cross-sections.
• Participate in field surveys and exploration activities as directed.
• Contribute to daily operational meetings, providing geological insights and observations.
• Ensure adherence to all health and safety protocols during fieldwork and laboratory activities.
