Overview




As a Geologist/Environmental Scientist for Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC) for our Columbus, Ohio office, you will be directly involved with environmental site investigation and remedial action projects. Your primary responsibility will be completing field activities, including assisting with and leading field sampling activities for soil, groundwater, and surface water. You will also assist with reporting activities, including environmental data interpretation, developing potentiometric surface maps, isoconcentration maps, and geologic cross sections. The individual's degree of involvement will be based upon their exposure and experience with respect to the assigned work.

Role and responsibilities:

    Collect, analyze, and prepare raw data into workable form for project reports, plans, and other project documents.
  • Participate in field work as assigned by project team leadership.
  • Coordinate assigned tasks with other staff to successfully complete assignments.
  • Maintain and utilize working knowledge of field standards and practices.





Qualifications




  • The qualified candidate will have 1 to 5 years of professional experience;
  • BS Degree (MS a plus) in Environmental Science or Geology;
  • Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle;
  • Basic technical competency, and demonstrated skills in engineering/scientific judgment, mathematical-applications, general chemistry, verbal/written communications;
  • Ability to work effectively with team members as well as independently;
  • Strong quantitative/math and analytical skills;
  • The ability to participate in field work and basic competency with hand tools and power equipment such as generators, pumps, air compressors, and field chemistry meters;
  • Core competency in Microsoft Office Products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook;
  • Detailed oriented with excellent oral and written communication skills; and,
  • Current 40-hour HAZWOPER training preferred.
