About the Role

Our client, an active exploration company, is seeking a diligent and meticulous Geological Technician to assist with core logging and logging operations. This role is essential for the accurate documentation and assessment of geological samples obtained from drilling programs. The position is field-based, requiring the successful candidate to work on project sites near Queenstown, Eastern Cape. You will play a crucial role in the initial assessment of drill core, contributing vital information to our geological models and exploration strategies. This is a contract position offering valuable hands‑on experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Log drill core accurately and consistently, describing lithology, alteration, mineralization, and structural features.
• Record geological data meticulously into digital logging systems or field notebooks.
• Prepare core samples for assaying, ensuring proper tagging, bagging, and chain of custody.
• Assist geologists in detailed field mapping and data collection as required.
• Maintain core storage facilities, ensuring proper organization and labeling of core trays.
• Operate and maintain basic geological field equipment.
• Follow established geological logging standards and protocols to ensure data quality.
• Adhere strictly to all company health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies and procedures.
• Assist with geological data management and entry into databases.
• Report any observations or concerns regarding core quality or geological features to the supervising geologist.
