Job summary

Mewbourne Oil Company in Midland, TX is seeking a Geological Technician to support the exploration team with data gathering, organization, and presentation, including preparing maps and cross sections. This office-based role focuses on maintaining geological databases and datasets, with opportunities to work with Geographix, Excel, IHS, Enverus and GIS tools, and to learn new skills.

Predominantly Monday–Friday with limited travel and a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

• Familiarity with geological software (Geographix, Excel, IHS, Enverus, GIS programs) is a plus.

Job Summary:

The Geological Technician provides technical and administrative support to the exploration team. This role is responsible for data gathering, organization, and presentation, as well as preparing maps, cross sections, and managing geological data within specialized software programs.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Perform routine and structured work assignments to support exploration activities.
• Maintain integrity and accuracy of data in geological databases.
• Create and manage datasets as required by the exploration team.

Physical Requirements:

Sedentary work with occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds. Frequent use of hands and fingers for data entry and equipment handling. Close visual acuity for data analysis, computer work, and reading.
