Job summary

Indiana University Bloomington, through the Indiana Geological and Water Survey (IGWS), seeks a Geological Repository Assistant to support core repository work, re-boxing and rehousing cores, inventorying materials, and ensuring long-term stewardship of Indiana's geological collections. The role is grant-funded through the USGS Data Preservation Program and ends June 30, 2028.

Responsibilities

• Support IGWS geological core repository via re-boxing, rehousing, labeling, and inventory
• Ensure long-term accessibility and data integrity of cores.
• Transfer core material into CoreSafe core boxes per procedures
• Maintain accurate location and inventory records throughout processing
• Operate or assist with material handling equipment and follow safety policies
• Assist with project reporting and coordination of workflow milestones
