Position Title: Adjunct Faculty (Part‑time/Temporary)
Location: District Wide (San Diego Community College District)
Pay Information: Salary is based on the Adjunct College Salary Schedules. Current salary schedule available. Official transcripts or foreign degree evaluations are required for proper salary placement.

Major Responsibilities
- Primary duties of adjunct faculty members are related to curriculum and teaching; the assignment is divided between lecture and lab classes as determined by the department. Adjunct instructional faculty are required to be available to students outside of class.
- Provide instruction in accordance with established curriculum and course outlines.
- Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics.
- Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter areas.
- Fulfill professional responsibilities of a part‑time/temporary faculty member.
- Teach all scheduled classes.
- Maintain accurate records.
- Provide quality instruction, create and maintain an environment which emphasizes teaching and learning and encourages free discussion of ideas, interests and issues.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Geography; or
- Bachelor’s degree in Geography AND Master’s degree in Geology, History, Meteorology, or Oceanography; or
- Equivalent credentials.
- Demonstrated cultural competency, sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse backgrounds of community college students and staff.
Desired Qualifications
- Equivalency: If applicants do not hold the exact degrees listed above, they may provide a Request for Equivalency Form during the application process.
- Foreign degrees: Coursework from foreign institutions must be evaluated by an NACES or ACEI professional association; evaluation must be submitted with application.
- California Community College Instructor Credential in Earth Sciences, including Geography, Geology, and Geophysics (valid for life).
- Commitment to diversity: Demonstrated experience working with diverse groups.
Conditions of Employment
- Submit official college transcripts.
- Provide a Certificate of Tuberculosis Exam; must be renewed every 4 years as condition of continuing employment.
- Have fingerprints taken by a Live Scan computer at district’s expense; clearance required prior to first day of employment.
- Present original documents for proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
