Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a Product Compliance Engineer for Electric Power to lead regulatory, safety, and certification activities for generator sets in the U.S. and Canada. You will ensure products meet UL/CSA standards and coordinate audits, testing, and documentation.

The role requires 5+ years in product compliance, a relevant engineering degree, and frequent collaboration with engineering, quality, operations, and external agencies. Occasional travel to labs is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering/Power Generation, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in product compliance, certification, regulatory engineering, or related technical roles.
• Experience with generator sets, power generation equipment, or similar engineered products.
• Strong experience with UL and CSA certification processes.
• Experience managing third-party testing and certification projects.
• Experience interpreting North American product safety and compliance standards.

Responsibilities

• Ensure generator set products comply with U.S. and Canadian regulatory, certification, and industry standards.
• Lead compliance efforts throughout the product lifecycle (new products, design changes, sustaining engineering).
• Serve as liaison with UL, CSA, and other regulatory bodies.
• Coordinate certifications, audits, inspections, testing activities, and corrective actions.
• Review designs, specs, and engineering changes for compliance impacts.
• Provide regulatory guidance to engineering, quality, operations, sales, and service teams.
• Manage certification docs, test reports, and approval records.
• Develop and execute compliance testing and validation strategies with internal teams and external labs.
• Travel to labs and test facilities to support testing and certification evaluations.
• Monitor evolving regulations and standards affecting products and operations.
• Support investigations and corrective actions related to compliance issues.
• Develop and improve compliance processes, metrics, and training programs.
