Job summary

The University of Kentucky is seeking a Genomics Research Specialist to contribute to microbial whole-genome sequencing (WGS), RNA sequencing (RNA-seq), bacteriophage biology, antimicrobial resistance (AMR), host–pathogen interactions, and One Health infectious disease research.

Responsibilities include experimental design, sequencing strategy, and library preparation across Illumina, Oxford Nanopore, PacBio, and hybrid workflows, with a focus on developing workflows and optimizing protocols in

Qualifications

• Experience in DNA/RNA extraction and library preparation for sequencing.
• Sequencing quality control and documentation skills.
• Experience with sequencing platforms and transcriptomics is a plus.
• PhD or extensive microbial genomics experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning microbial WGS and RNA-seq experiments.
• Develop sequencing workflows and optimize protocols.
• Troubleshoot sequencing and library preparation challenges.
• Support sequencing library prep for whole-genome sequencing and transcriptomics.
