Job summary

The New York Genome Center is seeking an Associate Scientist I for its high throughput production lab's Quality Control team in New York, NY. You will handle initial sample processing, perform nucleic acid extractions, and run QC checks and genotyping on Illumina Infinium platforms under supervision.

Responsibilities include assisting with library preparation, operating sequencing instruments (NovaSeq X, PromethION, Revio), maintaining LIMS records, and contributing to instrument maintenance and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry or related field.
• 1 year of molecular biology lab experience required.
• Experience with automated liquid handlers preferred.

Responsibilities

• Carry out DNA & RNA procedures for sequencing platforms, including extraction, quantification and preparation.
• Assist with library preparation and sequencer operation for Illumina platforms.
• Perform quality control of initial samples and sequencing-ready libraries.
• Perform nucleic acid extraction with automation (Hamilton Star, KingFisher Flex, QIAcube Connect).
• Process DNA for Illumina microarray platforms with automation (Hamilton Star, Tecan, iScan).
• Track work in LIMS and become proficient with NYGC’s LIMS system.
• Perform monthly instrument maintenance according to SOPs.
