Job summary

NC State University’s Department of Biological Sciences seeks an Assistant Teaching Professor in Genetics to begin in August 2027. This 9-month, 80% teaching, 20% service position supports the undergraduate Genetics Program through teaching, advising, and curriculum development and undergraduate-focused research.

You will teach foundational and advanced genetics courses, coordinate labs, and mentor graduate teaching assistants, contributing to inclusive student success and interdisciplinary

Qualifications

• PhD in Genetics or another life science field; or relevant degree.
• Expertise in population genetics and molecular genetics.
• Demonstrated teaching experience through TA or undergraduate courses.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate genetics courses (Principles of Genetics, Population Genetics, Molecular Genetics).
• Develop or enhance courses reflecting disciplinary strengths.
• Advise undergraduate students in the Genetics Program.
• Coordinate laboratory courses and mentor graduate teaching assistants.
• Contribute to departmental service and curriculum development.
• Pursue undergraduate-focused research and discipline-based education.
