The Geneticist will join a research program that develops and applies innovative methods and tools to deliver insights for research and development advancement linking crop conservation and utilization. They will combine multi-omics and data science with cutting-edge phenomic technologies to conserve and subsequently discover, optimize and introgress novel traits from genebank collections for transfer to pre-breeding or breeding programs. Through this role they will lead the generation of high-quality structural and functional genomic resources for complex species, contribute to discover genes (and associated traits) ultimately enabling the geneticists and breeders to improve crop resilience and quality. Other duties as assigned.
40% - Develop deep understanding of the continuum of crop conservation and improvement to ensure successful application of strategies and experimental design methods in the development of unique products from crops. Lead or participate to trait discovery projects focusing on crop resilience and quality including planning, design, coordination, and execution in collaboration with a multidisciplinary breeding and research team. 30% - Contributing to research strategies for improved conservation and utilization. Preparing and contributing to project documentation, scientific reports, publications, and presentations that clearly convey progress and challenges. 30% - Analyze large data set including multi-omics and phenotypic data and generating predictions models or tools to optimize product development. Support genebanks and breeding teams to facilitate the implementation of new methods for conservation and improvement.

Expected Salary Range
70,000 - 80,000
Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.
Normal Operations - Required to follow emergency facility closure and modified operations directives, and not normally expected to work on-site during emergency situations.
