University Health seeks a Genetic Counselor to screen and review select germline genetic test orders, assess patient history, and, when appropriate, advise on alternative testing to balance risk, benefit, and cost. Responsible for screening and reviewing select germline genetic test orders. Must be able to assess the patient’s clinical history and, when necessary, recommend alternative genetic testing based on the analysis of risk, benefit, and cost to the patient and/or Health System. Responsible for providing clinical consultation services and communicating results to physicians and other allied health professionals.
Master of Science in Genetic Counseling with ≥5 years of experience required, ≥3 years of which must be laboratory-relevant experience.
Certified as a genetic counselor by the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC). Texas State licensure will be required as available/appropriate.
