• Prepares for genetic counseling appointments by reviewing charts and completing preliminary documentation.
• Places genetic test orders, confirms laboratory receipt of samples, and monitors results for timely return before results appointments.
• Obtains results and records from internal departments, outside laboratories, and physician offices.
• Provides administrative support to genetic counselors, including drafting letters of medical necessity and sending results to patients and providers.
• Coordinates family testing logistics under the direction of a genetic counselor.
