Job summary

The University of Chicago is seeking a senior genetic counselor with leadership to oversee a team providing genetic counseling for inherited and familial cancer syndromes. In addition to clinical duties, you will support a new master’s program, advise students, and help manage fieldwork and accreditation.

The role combines patient care, education, and program administration, requiring a strong background in genetics, teaching, and collaboration with diverse health care teams.

Qualifications

• Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.
• Preferred advanced degree in the discipline of genetic counseling.
• Certification in genetic counseling from the ABGC or ABMGG is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide genetic counseling services for inherited and familial cancer syndromes.
• Supervise a team of three genetic counselors and one assistant.
• Coordinate patient care through multidisciplinary meetings and referrals.
• Oversee clinical workflows and support program accreditation.
• Lead educational activities and supervise fieldwork rotations.
• Serve as primary course instructor and participate in admissions.
