Job summary

Sudden Service, INC (SSI) is seeking a skilled field service technician in the Richmond, VA area to service and repair diesel and gas engines on customer sites. You will diagnose issues, replace/repair components, and perform generator maintenance with emphasis on safety, accuracy, and timely reporting.

The role requires a high school diploma (GED accepted), valid driver's license, ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and willingness to travel and stay on-call.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or GED.
• Experience with diesel and/or gas engines.
• Electrical experience and knowledge of wiring diagrams.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Consults with Service Manager to plan effective work and travel schedule.
• Diagnoses malfunctions; repairs and/or replaces worn and defective parts; installs new assemblies, adjusts devices and controls to correct malfunctions.
• Inspects, operates, and tests machines on delivery and after repairs to ensure proper functioning.
• Performs preventative maintenance on generator sets. Maintains documentation for billing and service records.
• Promotes company image by maintaining a neat appearance and by keeping the service truck orderly.
• May train new servicemen or supervise a team on large repair jobs.
