Job summary

General Dynamics Information Technology is seeking a Generator and HVAC Technician to support the U.S. Army and international operations. This role covers troubleshooting, diagnostics, and maintenance of 3kW to 150kW generators and HVAC systems, with field and shop work.

Qualifications include a high school diploma and relevant experience; US citizenship and Secret clearance are required. Willingness to travel internationally to Bahrain, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Jordan, and Iraq is essential.

• Experience: 3+ years of related experience; BA/BS + 2 years, AA/AS + 4 years, or HS diploma + 7 years as alternatives.
• Technical skills: Extensive diesel generator experience; knowledge of generator parallel systems and switch gear; brazing copper tubing and evacuating/recharging refrigerant.
• Security Clearance: Secret.
• Travel to Bahrain, UAE, Saudia Arabia, Kuwait, Jordan, Iraq.
• Role requirements: US passport valid at least 2 years, valid US driver’s license, international driver’s permit (AAA).

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and sustainment on generators from 3kW to 150kW, install/remove in fixed and mobile locations, troubleshoot AC/DC systems and electronic controls.
• Troubleshoot and repair HVAC, Chillers, and Environmental Control Units (ECUs) including trailer-mounted units.
• Maintain military and commercial power generation equipment including UPS; operate a Load bank during testing.
• Fabricate wire harnesses, solder terminals; some work in generator shop, some in field environments.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Job Description:

EPP III, Generator (3 - 150KW) and HVAC Technician – Kuwait,

Perform troubleshooting, diagnostics, maintenance, and services on all types of military and commercial generators and HVAC systems used by the U.S. Army to include the 150kW EPP III generators.

MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT

As a Generator and HVAC Mechanic, the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of the Worldwide Field Support contract for the U.S. Army. You’ll play a crucial role in providing on-site technical and maintenance assistance, analyzing complex technical problems, and providing training to site operations and maintenance personnel.

• Perform maintenance and sustainment support on 3kW to 150kW, 50/60/400hz generators involving installation and removal of generators from fixed and mobile locations, troubleshoots and repair alternating current (AC) systems, direct current (DC) systems, electronic control systems and other program logic controls, electrical wiring and accessories.


• Troubleshoot and repair HVAC, Chillers, and Environmental Control Units – some are standalone units and others are mounted on trailers and vehicles.


• Maintain all types of commercial power generation equipment; military spec generators and Uninterrupted Power Systems (UPS).


• Operate a Load bank during testing


• Fabricate wire harnesses and solder terminals.


• Some work will be in a generator shop environment, and some work will be in a field environment.


• Other duties as assigned.

• Experience: BA/BS plus 2 years’ experience, AA/AS/plus 4 years’ experience, or a High School diploma and 7 years’ experience


• Technical skills: Extensive diesel generator experience. Knowledge of generator parallel systems and switch gear. Experience with brazing copper tubing and evacuating and recharging refrigerant.

The likely salary range for this position is $70,658 - $92,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.

Total compensation for international positions varies by tax, social security, and immigration statuses, as well as location. Generally, an international assignment may include allowances, premium uplifts, and/or relocation or transportation benefits, above base salary range noted.
