Job summary

General Dynamics Information Technology seeks a Generator (3 - 150KW) and HVAC Technician to perform maintenance, troubleshooting and repair on generators and HVAC units for military and commercial use. The role requires ability to travel and work in both shop and field environments to support the U.S.

Army mission. You will diagnose complex problems, repair electrical and control systems, fabricate wire harnesses, and train site personnel.

Qualifications

• Education: High School diploma; BA/BS or AA/AS with years of experience may substitute.
• Experience: Military and commercial generator/HVAC maintenance preferred.
• Security: Ability to obtain and maintain Secret clearance.
• Travel: Willingness to travel to Bahrain, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Jordan, Iraq.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and sustainment on 3kW to 150kW generators and HVAC systems.
• Troubleshoot and repair AC/DC systems, electronic controls, and wiring.
• Operate a Load bank during testing and fabricate wire harnesses.
• Work in generator shop and field environments as required.
• Provide on-site technical support and training to site personnel.

Generator (3 - 150KW) and HVAC Technician – Kuwait

Perform troubleshooting, diagnostics, maintenance, and services on all types of military and commercial generators and HVAC systems used by the U.S. Army to include the 150kw generators.

MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT

As a Generator and HVAC Mechanic, the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of the Worldwide Field Support contract for the U.S. Army. You’ll play a crucial role in providing on-site technical and maintenance assistance, analyzing complex technical problems, and providing training to site operations and maintenance personnel.

• Perform maintenance and sustainment support on 3kW to 150kW, 50\60\400hz generators involving installation and removal of generators from fixed and mobile locations, troubleshoots and repair alternating current (AC) systems, direct current (DC) systems, electronic control systems and other program logic controls, electrical wiring and accessories.
• Perform overhaul, maintenance and sustainment support on 3kW to 150kW, 50\60\400hz generators involving installation and removal of generators from fixed and mobile locations, troubleshoots and repair alternating current (AC) systems, direct current (DC) systems, electronic control systems and other program logic controls, electrical wiring and accessories.
• Troubleshoot and repair HVAC, Chillers, and Environmental Control Units – some are standalone units and others are mounted on trailers and vehicles.
• Maintain all types of commercial power generation equipment; military spec generators and Uninterrupted Power Systems (UPS).
• Operate a Load bank during testing
• Fabricate wire harnesses and solder terminals.
• Some work will be in a generator shop environment, and some work will be in a field environment.
• Other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED

Bring your Generator and HVAC expertise along with a drive for innovation to GDIT. The Generator and HVAC Mechanic must have:

• Education: High School diploma
• Experience: BA/BS plus 2 years’ experience, AA/AS/plus 4 years’ experience, or a High School diploma and 7 years’ experience
• Technical skills: Extensive diesel generator experience. Knowledge of generator parallel systems and switch gear. Experience with brazing copper tubing and evacuating and recharging refrigerant.
• Security Clearance: Able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
• Travel to Bahrain, UAE, Saudia Arabia, Kuwait, Jordan, Iraq
• Role requirements: US passport must not expire for at least 2 years, valid US driver’s license, and an international driver’s permit (AAA). Ability to pass CRC to deploy.
