Job summary

General Dynamics Information Technology is seeking a Generator and HVAC Mechanic to support the U.S. Army mission. You will perform diagnostics, maintenance, and on-site technical services for generator and HVAC systems, including 150kW EPP III units, in both fixed facilities and in the field.

You will troubleshoot AC/DC systems, electronic controls, and related wiring, with travel to multiple regions. The role requires a US passport, security clearance, and readiness for deployment in demanding

Qualifications

• Education: High School diploma as the baseline.
• Extensive diesel generator experience and knowledge of parallel systems.
• Certification in Section 608 is a plus and security clearance: Secret.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and sustainment support on 3kW to 150kW, 50/60/400hz generators involving installation and removal of generators from fixed and mobile locations.
• Troubleshoot and repair HVAC, Chillers, and Environmental Control Units, mounted on trailers and vehicles.
• Maintain all types of commercial power generation equipment, military spec generators and UPS.
• Operate a Load bank during testing.
• Fabricate wire harnesses and solder terminals.
• Work in generator shop environments as well as field environments.
• Other duties as assigned.

EPP III, Generator (3 - 150KW) and HVAC Technician

Perform troubleshooting, diagnostics, maintenance, and services on all types of military and commercial generators and HVAC systems used by the U.S. Army to include the 150kW EPP III generators.

MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT

As a Generator and HVAC Mechanic, the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of the Worldwide Field Support contract for the U.S. Army. You’ll play a crucial role in providing on-site technical and maintenance assistance, analyzing complex technical problems, and providing training to site operations and maintenance personnel.

• Perform maintenance and sustainment support on 3kW to 150kW, 50\\60\\400hz generators involving installation and removal of generators from fixed and mobile locations, troubleshoots and repair alternating current (AC) systems, direct current (DC) systems, electronic control systems and other program logic controls, electrical wiring and accessories.
• Troubleshoot and repair HVAC, Chillers, and Environmental Control Units – some are standalone units and others are mounted on trailers and vehicles.
• Maintain all types of commercial power generation equipment; military spec generators and Uninterrupted Power Systems (UPS).
• Operate a Load bank during testing
• Fabricate wire harnesses and solder terminals.
• Some work will be in a generator shop environment, and some work will be in a field environment.
• Other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED

Bring your Generator and HVAC expertise along with a drive for innovation to GDIT. The Generator and HVAC Mechanic must have:

• Education: High School diploma
• Experience: BA/BS plus 2 years’ experience, AA/AS/plus 4 years’ experience, or a High School diploma and 7 years’ experience
• Technical skills: Extensive diesel generator experience. Knowledge of generator parallel systems and switch gear. Experience with brazing copper tubing and evacuating and recharging refrigerant.
• Security Clearance: Secret
• Travel to Bahrain, UAE, Saudia Arabia, Kuwait, Jordan, Iraq
• Role requirements: US passport must not expire for at least 2 years, valid US driver’s license, and an international driver’s permit (AAA)

• Must meet CRC fitness standards for deployment to SWA (southwest Asia) and maintain those standards annually while on contract in SWA.
