Job summary

React Power Solutions in Houston, TX is seeking an Experienced Service Technician to install, maintain, diagnose, and repair diesel and natural gas generators from 20kW to 2500kW.

The role covers both field and shop work, emergency callouts, and occasional travel, with a strong emphasis on safety and customer service. You will mentor junior technicians and support the sales team during bids.

Qualifications

  • Requires high school diploma or GED.
  • 5+ years hands-on generator service experience.
  • Experience with Caterpillar, Cummins, Generac, Kohler brands.
  • Able to read wiring diagrams and schematics.
  • Proficient with diagnostics software (ET/SIS/SIS Web/STW).
  • Valid Texas driver’s license; ability to travel (domestic/international).
  • Pass drug screening and employment eligibility verification.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair diesel and natural gas generators and related systems (20kW-2500kW).
  • Perform preventative maintenance and advanced corrective repairs on generator sets, transfer switches, and control panels.
  • Conduct electrical and mechanical diagnostics; perform load bank testing (resistive/reactive).
  • Replace components such as belts, hoses, filters, and battery chargers.
  • Execute control panel conversions, breaker isolations, and re-tap generator ends.
  • Complete service reports, PM checklists, and timecards accurately and promptly.
  • Maintain clear communication with customers and internal teams regarding service status and recommendations.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and company safety standards.
  • Occasionally assist sales team with technical support during bids and proposals.
  • Train and mentor junior technicians in preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance procedures.

As we continue to grow, we are looking for an experienced and motivated Service Technician to join our Houston-based team.

Position Summary:

The Service Technician will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of power generation equipment including engines, generators, and control systems. This position involves field and shop work, including customer-facing tasks, emergency callouts, and occasional travel. Ideal candidates will have strong technical skills, excellent troubleshooting ability, and a proactive approach to safety and service.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair diesel and natural gas generators and related systems (20kW-2500kW)
  • Perform preventative maintenance and advanced corrective repairs on generator sets, transfer switches, and control panels
  • Conduct electrical and mechanical diagnostics; perform load bank testing (resistive/reactive)
  • Replace components such as belts, hoses, filters, and battery chargers
  • Execute control panel conversions, breaker isolations, and re-tap generator ends
  • Complete service reports, PM checklists, and timecards accurately and promptly
  • Maintain clear communication with customers and internal teams regarding service status and recommendations
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and company safety standards
  • Maintain clean, operable service area and equipment
  • Occasionally participate in on-call rotation; respond to emergency service requests 24/7 as needed
  • Occasionally assist sales team with technical support during bids and proposals
  • Train and mentor junior technicians in preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance procedures
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED required; trade school or technical training preferred
  • Minimum 5+ years of hands‑on experience in generator service, electrical or mechanical systems
  • Strong understanding of Caterpillar, Cummins, Generac, Kohler, and similar brands preferred
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals
  • Skilled in use of tools, diagnostics software (ET/SIS/SIS Web/STW), and equipment
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in tight spaces, high places, or variable weather conditions
  • Valid Texas driver’s license
  • Passport and ability to travel (domestic/international) occasionally highly desired.
  • Must pass drug screening and employment eligibility verification
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
  • Shop, warehouse, and field environments (indoor/outdoor)
  • Exposure to loud noise, moving machinery, and airborne particles
  • Standing, bending, lifting, and walking for extended periods
  • Use of ladders and working around heavy equipment
  • Occasional overnight travel
