Job summary

Power Plus is seeking a Generator Service Technician to diagnose, repair and test generator systems from 5 kW to 4000 kW in the New Jersey service area. The role combines mechanical and electrical skills with strong customer service to deliver reliable power.

This full-time position is based at our Freehold office, with overtime, on‑call rotations, and occasional travel. You will join a 35‑year‑old company committed to training, teamwork, and exceptional service.

Qualifications

• Mechanical and electrical aptitude with experience in diesel generators.
• Technical schooling in automotive or transportation fields is a plus.
• Willingness to learn and use new technologies.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, diagnose, repair and test 5 kW–4000 kW generator systems.
• Interact with customers.
• Correctly fill out paperwork.
• Read and apply technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.

Generator Service Technician Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, diagnose, repair and test 5 kw – 4000 kw generator systems
• Interact with customers
• Correctly fill out paperwork
• Read and apply technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics

Requirements

• Mechanical and electrical aptitude, with experience in mechanical and electrical fields, particularly with diesel generators.
• Technical schooling, automotive or transportation fields, commercial, residential electric and/or military experience a plus.
• Willingness to learn and use new technologies.
• Available to work various shifts, weekend, holidays and on‑call pager rotations with occasional out‑of‑town travel/overnight stays.
• Able to safely operate heavy equipment, forklifts, and mobile cranes in accordance with OSHA regulations.
• Certified Journeyman Electrician a plus but not required.
