Job summary

Siemens Energy in Charlotte, NC is seeking an entry-level Generator Rotor Winder for the 3rd shift (Mon-Fri, 12am–8am). You will wind, braze, insulate and assemble copper coils on large generator rotors, install blocking, and secure wedges while performing safety and quality checks and completing electronic QC documents.

The role supports refurbishment of rotors and new rotor assembly, with certifications and licenses pursued through Siemens Energy internal programs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with 1+ year manufacturing experience.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, charts and tables.
• Proficiency with common hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
• Able to obtain Siemens Energy internal copper brazing and ultrasonic certifications.
• Able to obtain fork truck and crane licenses through Siemens Energy internal programs.
• Able to obtain Silver level or higher ACT WorkKeys certificate.
• Able to pass hearing, vision and pulmonary tests.

Responsibilities

• Perform rotor winding tasks including winding, brazing, insulating, blocking, wedging and assembling.
• Assemble and secure copper coils onto rotors and install blocking between end arcs.
• Conduct safety and quality checks and document results in electronic quality control records.
• Work on both new rotors and refurbishment of service rotors.
• Engage in 5S continuous improvement.

Join our dynamic team as a Generator Rotor Winder, where you will play a crucial role in assembling copper coils onto large generator rotors. Imagine forming, brazing, and insulating these coils to create a powerful electromagnetic field essential for operation. You will fit and install composite blocking between the copper end arcs and secure wedges in the rotor body, ensuring the coils are held firmly in place. Throughout your day, you will conduct essential safety and quality checks, meticulously filling out electronic quality control documents to maintain our high standards.

How You’ll Make an Impact

• Perform rotor winding tasks including winding, brazing, insulating, blocking, wedging, and assembling.


• Work on both new rotors and refurbishment of service rotors.


• Assist in hand skill areas with tasks such as assembly of shrunk-on components and deburring machined parts.


• Engage in continuous improvement by applying 5S methodology.

What You Bring

• High school degree or equivalent with 1+ years of experience in manufacturing, industrial, or assembly operations, and the ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, charts, and tables.


• Working knowledge of common hand tools and ability to use precision measuring instruments.


• Must be able to obtain copper brazing and ultrasonic examination certifications through Siemens Energy internal certification programs.


• Must be able to obtain fork truck and crane license through Siemens Energy internal certification programs.


• Successful applicants must be able to obtain Silver Level or higher ACT® WorkKeys® National Career Readiness Certificate.


• Successful applicants must be able to pass hearing, vision, and pulmonary tests through Siemens Energy’s onsite medical team.
