Generator Supercenter, Inc. is hiring a Generator Mechanic / Service Technician to perform diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on whole-home standby generators at residential sites in Wheeling, IL. The role requires travel in a company vehicle and the ability to read schematics and wiring diagrams.

We value dependable, skilled technicians with 1+ years of generator service experience, strong communication, and a clean driving record. A company vehicle, tools, and training are provided.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience in generator service, small engine repair, or related mechanical/electrical work.
• Strong customer service and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, and service manuals.
• Comfortable working independently in the field with minimal supervision.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Physically able to perform job duties, including climbing ladders, lifting equipment, and working in outdoor environments.
• Familiarity with residential generator systems and ATS technology is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Travel to residential job sites using a company-provided service vehicle.
• Perform diagnostics, routine maintenance, and repairs on whole-home standby generators.
• Troubleshoot and service mechanical and electrical components, including ATS systems.
• Read and interpret electrical wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical manuals.
• Clearly communicate with customers regarding services performed and any recommendations.
• Accurately document all work in our service management software.
• Follow safety protocols and industry best practices when working around electricity.
• Support emergency service calls during weather-related outages or storms, as needed.
