Job summary

Generator Supercenter in Wheeling, IL is seeking an Apprentice Electrician to assist and learn all electrical operations, ensuring quality, safety and code compliance during generator installations.

As a full-time role, you will work with the supervising electrician on ATS and generator installations, review electrical scope, troubleshoot wiring issues, run conduit, read diagrams, and help train technicians while promoting site safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2+ years of professional electrical experience (generator installation experience is a plus).
• Strong knowledge of AC and DC electrical systems.
• Proficient in reading wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals.
• Experience working with conduit, electrical panels, transfer switches, and backup power systems.
• Safety-minded and code compliant.

Responsibilities

• Review sold job folders and confirm all electrical scope aligns with code and Generator Supercenter standards.
• Troubleshoot electrical systems and trace wiring issues during installation and service.
• Support load testing of generator systems and ensure operational compliance.
• Assist in project preparation, including trenching, conduit routing, and setting mechanical components.
• Perform AC/DC wiring and read electrical diagrams and blueprints with precision.
• Install electrical equipment and components including panels, ATS units, wiring, conduit, and controls.
• Utilize electrical testing and measurement tools proficiently.
• Promote job site safety, cleanliness, and team collaboration.
• Support and train electrical technicians, as needed.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
