Job summary

Apple, Inc. in Cupertino seeks a Software Engineer for Generative UI, Input Experience, to own the UI layer for generative interfaces and craft the APIs that power them.

You will work with designers and model teams to balance layout decisions, intent, and surface exposure, shipping reusable components that adapt to content and different sizes. You will prototype quickly with design partners, then formalize a principled API surface and collaborate across Apple’s design, AI, and UI framework teams

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• Expert-level SwiftUI, including custom Layout and preferences, with a deep understanding of its layout model.
• Designed and shipped a reusable view or component API that other engineers adopted.
• A portfolio, shipped work, or prototypes that show strong visual craft, especially typography and layout.
• Comfortable working directly with designers, from early ambiguous exploration through to a pixel-exact result.

Responsibilities

• Own the UI layer that generative interfaces are built on and create flexible APIs for engineers and models.
• Develop principled, well-named APIs with a small surface area for use across teams.
• Collaborate with design, AI, and UI framework groups to optimize for native-feeling results across sizes and content.
• Prototype with designers, then refine to robust, reusable components that scale with product needs.
