Job summary

Peraton is hiring a Generative AI Specialist to support IRAD initiatives focused on AI/ML platforms for operations in the Information Environment. You will drive LLM, agentic AI workflows, and AI application development across COCOM areas, delivering prompt engineering, RAG, and AI safety best practices.

You will design AI solutions using GPT-4/5, Claude, Gemini, Azure OpenAI, and integrate with DoD systems; travel may be required and a TS/SCI clearance is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field; 5+ years of relevant experience.
• 3+ years in software development or data science; 2+ years in generative AI/NLP.
• Hands-on with foundation models (GPT-4, Claude, Gemini, Llama, Mistral) and prompt engineering.
• Strong Python; experience with LangChain, LlamaIndex, Hugging Face, and OpenAI/Anthropic APIs.
• Experience building RAG systems using vector databases and cloud deployment (AWS/Azure).
• Understanding of AI safety, bias, hallucination mitigation, and prompt injection protection.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD, and DevSecOps practices.
• U.S. citizenship required and ability to obtain TS/SCI with Poly.
• Current U.S. passport for potential OCONUS travel.

Responsibilities

• Design and optimize generative AI solutions using GPT-4/5, Claude, Gemini, and Azure OpenAI.
• Implement agentic LLM architectures with JSON/GeoJSON, chain-of-thought/debate methods, and multi-agent orchestration.
• Build and maintain prompt libraries, evaluation frameworks, and QA pipelines for defense-grade AI content.
• Integrate generative AI into existing platforms via documented APIs; ensure interoperability with DoD systems.
• Research emerging generative AI techniques and translate requirements into deployable solutions.
• Support MVP-aligned milestones, TRL progression, and ROI measurement.
