Job summary

Empower seeks an experienced Enterprise Architect to lead Generative AI architecture across the organization in the United States. You will define data models, indexing, and retrieval strategies to enable scalable AI-enabled interactions throughout customer experiences and internal workflows.

The role requires deep expertise in data architecture, governance, and agent frameworks, with a focus on secure, scalable, and cost-efficient design.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
• Ten or more years of experience across data architecture, distributed systems, or enterprise platform design.
• Experience owning architectural direction and influencing system design across multiple teams.
• Strong understanding of data architecture, including modeling and governance across complex systems.
• Experience designing large-scale data platforms, APIs, and distributed services.
• Practical knowledge of modern data platforms (such as Snowflake) including ingestion, transformation, and consumption layers.
• Understanding of retrieval, indexing, and search systems at scale.
• Deep familiarity with Generative AI and Agentic AI concepts including embeddings, retrieval, prompt composition, agent memory, and orchestration.
• Ability to balance performance, scalability, cost, and operational complexity.
• Access control and governance within distributed environments.
• Experience with Agent Frameworks - 3rd Party and open source.
• Ability to address prompt injection risk, data leakage, and model risk controls in enterprise systems.

Responsibilities

• Own the architectural strategy and key decisions for Generative AI capabilities across the enterprise.
• Define how enterprise data, knowledge, and metadata are organized for reliable AI access.
• Establish data flow from source systems through curation, indexing, embedding, and retrieval for AI-driven interactions.
• Set direction for embedding AI capabilities into customer touchpoints, internal tools, and workflows.
• Develop Agent Framework Architecture.
• Define how data models enable contextual reasoning and grounded outputs.
• Maintain knowledge representation, versioning, and accuracy over time.
• Define retrieval system patterns for context delivery under varying conditions.
• Handle non-deterministic behavior, variability, and failure scenarios.
• Coordinate orchestration layers among models, data sources, APIs, and downstream systems.
• Design multi-step AI workflows with tool usage and escalation paths.
• Assist RAI team in evaluating AI output quality and impact on decisions.
• Identify fragmentation and drive consolidation into coherent architectural patterns.
