Job Description
JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s level degree preferred. Commensurate relevant work experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Minimum Work Experience : 1-3 years of related experience. Previous experience in political/grassroots organizing is required. Experience in coalition recruitment, project management, and database management preferred.

Other Requirements: Valid driver’s license. Reliable transportation to travel throughout the service area and ability to transport event supplies, marketing material and merchandise.

Schedule : Frequent irregular, and sometimes long, hours including, evenings and some weekends during busy times of the year.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The Generation Action Manager performs a wide range of duties, including, but not limited to the following:

  1. 1. Represents Planned Parenthood’s mission and policy positions when speaking to external audiences. This is a forward-facing role that requires frequent public speaking.
  2. 2. Organizing program lead who recruits, trains, supports, and recognizes Generation Action volunteers to further the agency's work. Including, but not limited to: interviewing potential student leaders and providing training to encourage the student’s success; tracking students’ involvement, and impact; and working with other departments to ensure volunteer engagement needs are met.
  3. 3. Leads and designs the Generation Action program to ensure that meaningful and diverse engagement is available where needed to meet the agency’s goals and creates opportunities for innovation and leadership to emerge including bringing volunteers along the path to stay involved beyond graduation.
  4. 4. Leads our campus organizing and uses a reproductive justice lens to inform decision-making.
  5. 5. Engages in electoral work as assigned, including but not limited to: recruiting volunteers to support endorsed candidates, attending rallies, and engaging with electoral campaign staff .
  6. 6. Provides direction to our Planned Parenthood campus partnerships and coalition work, grassroots organizing programs including trainings, leadership development, membership recruitment, and engaging volunteers in grassroots and legislative organizing and civic participation on targeted campaigns.
  7. 7. Maintains guest lists, gathers, creates collateral materials, and other duties as assigned for Public Affairs events and programs.
  8. 8. Host weekly phone banks to engage volunteers and supporters. Trains, recruits and meets with volunteers to help meet goals.
  9. 9. Builds, manages, and expands a strong network of campus chapters and student leaders by developing grassroots and grasstops relationships with key campus stakeholders. Recruits, engages, and develops student leaders; strengthens chapter infrastructure and organizing capacity; and identifies opportunities to launch new chapters and expand the organization’s campus presence and influence.
  10. 10. Leads and coordinates campus organizing activities, including phone banking, voter registration, GOTV efforts, canvassing, tabling, PPFA/PPAF campaigns, and educational presentations on a regular basis.
  11. 11. Mobilizes student leaders and chapter members to execute grassroots campaigns, build campus engagement, and expand participation in organizational and cross-movement work.
  12. 12. Organizes and manages campus and community events, including an annual Generation Action Summit, with responsibility for logistics, outreach, recruitment, and program execution.
  13. 13. Meets with chapter leaders at least monthly to assess progress, provide support, and strengthen chapter engagement and growth. Develops and maintains an annual campus programming calendar, ensuring events, campaigns, and programs are strategically aligned with key campus dates, peak engagement periods, and organizational priorities.
  14. 14. Ensures diversity in volunteer and coalition base and upholds the agency’s values around Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging.
  15. 15. Is responsible for data integrity, improvement, and maintaining updated records in EveryAction/VAN, and all other field/electoral databases.
  16. 16. Assists with marketing efforts for grassroots field campaigns, donor relations projects, and health center services.
  17. 17. Provides timely reporting to supervisor, department Executive Director, PPFA/PPAF, and other stakeholders as requested.
  18. 18. Working in collaboration with the Field Director, Implements strategy; drafts and executes campaign plans; and manages deliverables needed to achieve advocacy efforts across the state, including timelinesand budgets for assigned programs and ensure that tasks are completed on time and within budget. Defines, tracks, and measures the progress of initiatives against goals.
  19. 19. Ensure compliance with conditions of 501C3, 501C4 and PAC guidelines for approved activities.
  20. 20. Participates in the Affiliate’s efforts related to revenue cycle, which include but are not limited to: Achieving goals for productivity; meeting or exceeding revenue targets; and expense management as budgeted.

  22. 22. Travels throughout the state to help support the agency’s campaign goals and priorities.
  23. 23. Performs other duties as assigned in support of mission and as required to ensure delivery of consistently high-quality services.
