Job summary

Planned Parenthood of Northern, Central and Southern New Jersey, Inc. (PPNCSNJ) seeks a Board Relations Manager to oversee governance processes for the New Jersey region, including coordinating board and committee meetings, maintaining records, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

The role requires a 4-year degree and at least 5 years of experience with boards, preferably in nonprofit or healthcare settings, with strong organizational and communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in public administration, board and executive administration, healthcare administration, nonprofit management, or related field (or equivalent experience); Master’s degree preferred
  • At least 5 years of working with Boards and a minimum of 3 years as lead in working with Board and/or executive leadership.
  • Experience with boards of directors or executive leadership is required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in handling confidential information

Responsibilities

  • Board Governance & Administration
  • Coordinate all Board of Directors and committee meetings, including scheduling and logistics
  • Prepare and distribute board materials and maintain governance records
  • Ensure compliance with legal, audit, regulatory, and organizational governance requirements
  • Serve as primary point of contact for Board members
  • Support onboarding and orientation of new Board members
  • Maintain board member records and committee assignments
  • Facilitate ongoing education and engagement of Board members
  • Communicate effectively between committees and leadership
  • Support senior leadership with materials for board presentations and strategic planning
  • Track action items from Board meetings and assist with board workplan
  • Collaborate with legal counsel on governance requests
  • Monitor adherence to nonprofit governance standards and healthcare regulations
  • Assist with annual filings, accreditation, and audits as needed

Education

Bachelor’s degree in public administration
Master’s degree preferred

Job Description:
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in public administration, board and executive administration, healthcare administration, nonprofit management, or related field (or equivalent experience); Master’s degree preferred
  • At least 5 years of working with Boards and a minimum of 3 years as lead in working with Board and/or executive leadership. Time with administrative, legal or governance support experience will be taken into consideration, preferably in a nonprofit or healthcare setting
  • Experience working with boards of directors or executive leadership is a must
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities
  • High level of discretion and ability to handle confidential information
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines independently
  • Understanding of nonprofit governance best practices

Key Responsibilities:
  • Board Governance & Administration
  • Coordinate all Board of Directors and committee meetings, including scheduling, agenda development, and logistics
  • Coordinate outside meetings as requested by the CEOs
  • Prepare and distribute board materials (agendas, reports, presentations, and minutes) in a timely manner
  • Maintain accurate records of board meetings, resolutions, bylaws, and governance documents
  • Ensure compliance with legal, audit, regulatory, and organizational governance requirements
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for Board members
  • Support onboarding and orientation of new Board members
  • Maintain board member records, terms, and committee assignments
  • Facilitate ongoing education and engagement of Board members
  • Ensure effective communication between committees and leadership
  • Strategic & Executive Support
  • Assist senior leadership in preparing materials for board presentations and strategic planning sessions
  • Track action items and follow-ups from Board meetings
  • Support the execution of board-driven organizational priorities including the development and execution of the board workplan
  • Work with our legal counsel pertaining to board and any other executive requests including maintaining privilege, setting meetings, follow ups etc.
  • Monitor adherence to nonprofit governance standards and healthcare regulations
  • Assist with annual filings, accreditation requirements, and audits as needed
  • Ensure documentation aligns with policies related to patient care, ethics, and confidentiality

  • Lead support in development and implementation of the Strategic Plan with the Board and Executive Staff
