Job summary

The University of West Georgia (UWG) is seeking an Intermediate General Trades Technician to support campus facilities, performing carpentry, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and custodial tasks across a variety of buildings. This position is based at UWG’s Carrollton campus and may involve work on the Newnan campus as needed.

Reporting to the Building Maintenance Superintendent, the role requires hands-on expertise with building systems, strong problem-solving skills, and flexibility to cover nights

Qualifications

Job Summary

Reporting to the Building Maintenance Superintendent, this is an Intermediate level position for skilled trades professionals in building maintenance. Position hours of work are 7:00am to 3:30pm Monday - Friday. Must be available as needed to work nights or weekends to service the emergency needs of campus. This position must perform intermediate-level work in several different trade capacities (Carpentry, HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, and Custodial) in response to critical, urgent, or emergency work requests. These duties include routine, preventive, and emergency maintenance; installation, service, and repair of building components, electrical, electronics, hardware, and locks, heating and air conditioning equipment, food service equipment, plumbing tasks, and the setup of equipment for special events Work may require the incumbent to perform moderately complex troubleshooting and repair tasks within their area of trade/skill. More complex problems or those specialized tasks outside of the employee's area of expertise will be referred to the appropriate trade and/or supervisor. Must be available as needed to work nights or weekends to service the emergency needs of our customers.
