Georgia Correctional Industries is seeking a General Trades Tech 2 to perform a range of building trades duties under supervision. The role supports repair, maintenance and construction of state facilities, including security and climate control systems, within the Northwest Georgia region.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED and at least one year of related experience. Vocational training is a substitute, and travel across Georgia may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED and one year experience in building repairs and maintenance or in the specific area of assignment.
• Strong time management skills and the ability to work independently.
• Ability to read basic wiring diagrams and schematics.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Completion of a vocational-technical school program in a skilled trade will substitute for the required experience.

Under direct supervision, performs a variety of semiskilled and skilled building trades work in the repair, maintenance or construction of state buildings and related structures. Installs and maintains security, climate control and other facilities systems.

Minimum Qualification:

• High school diploma/GED and one (1) year experience in building repairs and maintenance or in the specific area of assignment.

Preferred Qualification:

• Mechanical aptitude and experience using hand and power tools.
• Ability to read basic wiring diagrams and schematics.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.

Completion of a vocational-technical school program in a skilled trade will substitute for the required experience. Candidates should possess strong time management skills and the ability to work independently while making sound decisions with limited supervision. This position will work within the Northwest Georgia region. A company vehicle is provided for work related travel. Occasional travel to other areas of Georgia may be required to provide stateside support as needed. This position may be filled as a General Trades Tech 2 depending on the qualifications of the selected applicant.
