Description

This is a trainee position responsible for assisting with the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of wind turbines and all associated equipment in accordance with procedures, guidelines, and operating directives. The role involves assisting with maintenance and operational duties, performing basic mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation tasks, and completing all training requirements within the designated time frame.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Adhere to safety and environmental policies, ensuring all personnel conduct themselves safely and within regulations.
  • Complete required safety training annually.
  • Participate in turbine-specific training, both classroom and hands-on.
  • Assist in the operation of wind turbine systems under supervision.
  • Learn turbine components, maintenance procedures such as filter changes, greasing, fluid changes, and parts replacement.
  • Perform disassembly, repair, assembly, lubrication, troubleshooting, and maintenance tasks.
  • Read meters, gauges, and recording devices to verify operating conditions.
  • Use tools safely and understand their specific functions.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of the work area and equipment.
  • Respond to emergency situations with immediate corrective actions.
  • Utilize electrical testing equipment after certification.
  • Complete documentation accurately, including work orders and logs.
  • Train to improve personal skills and prepare for advancement.
  • Travel as required and support co-workers.
  • Work flexible hours, including holidays and overtime.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems is desired.
  • Basic computer skills in MS Word, Excel, and databases.
Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to interpret safety and operational documents.
  • Effective communication skills, including radio use.
  • Follow instructions and write routine reports.
  • Basic math and algebra skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Licenses and Physical Requirements
  • Valid driver’s license for the applicable state.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb towers up to 300 feet, and work at heights with safety gear.
Work Environment

Exposure to electrical hazards, moving mechanical parts, chemicals, and weather conditions. Noise levels may be loud. Reasonable accommodations will be provided for disabilities.
