Job summary

Siddons-Martin Emergency Group is seeking a General Service Technician to support service operations. Under the Shop Foreman, you will assist with vehicle maintenance, diagnosis, and repairs while upholding safety and quality.

This role includes travel to designated sites and collaboration with service staff to meet production goals. We offer a Monday–Friday schedule, a robust benefits package, and opportunities for growth within an employee-owned organization.

Qualifications

• Experience in automotive service or related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Enforce company policies per SMEG Handbook.
• Assist shop/field technicians with vehicle maintenance and repairs.
• Diagnose and perform services with accurate labor estimates.
• Maintain clean, safe work areas and professional appearance.
• Provide accurate parts lists and reports to the Shop Foreman.
• Follow PMI and Pierce manuals for policies and procedures.
• Communicate effectively in daily service meetings.

Summary

Unless otherwise specified, the General Service Technician is responsible for all daily internal service-related interactions. The responsibility includes, but is not limited to, a dedication to the company's mission statement, to company profitability and 100% customer satisfaction

Duties and Responsibilities

• Enforce all company policies as defined in the SMEG Company Handbook
• Interact with entire service staff
• Maintain clean/safe work areas, cleanliness of tool and ensure proper tool storage, for both personal and company owned
• Maintain neat and professional personal appearance at all times
• Under direct supervision of the Shop Foreman, the General Service Technician will assist shop and or field service technicians with assigned vehicle maintenance repairs
• Perform proper and accurate vehicle diagnosis, services and repairs as directed by management.
• Perform quality repairs and services in a timely manner
• Provide Shop Foreman and Assistant Manager(s) with accurate estimated labor times
• Provide Shop Foreman and Assistant Manager(s) with complete parts needed list
• Participate in quality check process with Shop Foreman and Assistant Manager(s)
• Understanding of productivity goals and review for areas in need of improvement
• Follow company processes and procedures as defined in the SMEG operations manual
• Participate in morning meetings with service staff to plan the day
• Maintain accurate, timely and legible company designed reports and paperwork
• Notice and report potential problem areas to management before they arise
• Maintain a successful working relationship with Pierce Manufacturing personnel
• Enforce policies and procedures as defined in the Pierce Manufacturing operations manual
• Responsible for responsive/timely travel to designated sites and locations as directed/scheduled

Qualifications

The General Service Technician must be able to clearly demonstrate their ability to set and reach performance goals set forth by the owner/operator.

• Must be willing to travel to other site locations and stations as needed.
• Experience within Fire and Emergency related industry a plus.
• Must work towards obtaining both EVT Master Tech and Pierce Master Technician status
• Proven track record of success
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
• Exceptional organizational methods (Work area, Safety, Tool & Equipment Organization)
• Possess exceptional leadership and motivational skills

• Ability to engage in and maintain positive relationships with employees and customers
• Computer skills: Must be proficient with Microsoft Outlook Email, Microsoft Word & Excel programs as well with any company provided software

Education and/or Experience

• High School Diploma or GED
• 2 Plus years with experience in an automotive service-related industry and/or technical school certificate.
• Clean driving record with a Class B non-exempt CDL driver license or able to obtain within six months of hire.
• Knowledge of repair principles and procedures in all areas of the Heavy Truck Repair Industry

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

• EVT (Emergency Vehicle Technician) and ASE Heavy Truck Certifications are a plus

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to walk stairs and/or climb ladders. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
