Job summary

Ascension Saint Agnes Hospital in Baltimore, MD, is seeking a Physician Assistant for an inpatient general surgery service. This full‑time role offers a base salary of $60.62–$76.90 per hour, with CME allowance and dedicated CME days, plus malpractice coverage with tail. You will join a team of 6 physicians and 18 APPs, perform assessments, order diagnostics, and manage treatment plans under physician supervision.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program; Master’s degree preferred.
• Maryland PA license or eligibility required before hire date.
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
• 1 year inpatient general surgery experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive patient assessments and manage treatment plans under physician supervision.
• Order and interpret diagnostics as part of the surgical care team.
• Coordinate care with physicians, APPs, and nursing staff to ensure patient safety.
• Educate patients and families on treatment options and post-discharge care.

• Join an established team of 6 physicians and 18 APPs
• Practice setting: Inpatient general surgery
• Access to advanced surgical technology (experience with robotic-assisted surgery is preferred) and robust system resources
• Employed position within a nonprofit health system
• Deliver comprehensive patient care by conducting thorough assessments, ordering and interpreting diagnostics, and managing treatment plans under physician supervision to drive optimal health outcomes.
• Empower patients and families by providing high-touch education on treatment options, preventative health, and community resources to support long-term wellness.
• Maintain precise health records through meticulous documentation of care journeys to protect patient safety and maintain seamless care continuity.
• Board Certification required
• Eligible for Maryland state medical licensure and DEA registration required
• Urology experience is a bonus!

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Physician Assistant credentialed from the Maryland Board of Physicians obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
• Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education

• Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program. Master's degree preferred.

Work Experience

• 1 year of experience preferred.
