Job summary

New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation is actively seeking a General Surgeon through Physician Affiliate Group of New York (PAGNY) for NYC Health + Hospitals/South Brooklyn Health. The role covers inpatient, outpatient, ED and operative settings at Ruth Bader Ginsburg Hospital, with a strong academic affiliation network comprising SUNY Downstate and NYIT COM.

The position includes preoperative evaluation, operative management, postoperative care, trauma coverage, and teaching

Qualifications

• Board Eligible or Board Certified in General Surgery by the American Board of Surgery.
• New York Medical License (or eligibility to obtain).
• Active BLS, ACLS, and ATLS certifications.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive general surgical care to adult patients in Inpatient, Outpatient, Emergency Department and Operative settings.
• Evaluate and manage patients with acute and elective general surgical conditions.
• Provide preoperative evaluation, operative management and postoperative care.
• Participate in the General Surgery inpatient service, surgical consultation service and call schedule, including emergency coverage.
• Participate in trauma activation and surgical response as clinically appropriate.
• Collaborate with other clinical disciplines in managing complex surgical patients.
• Engage in departmental quality assurance and performance improvement activities.
• Support trauma services development and Level III readiness.
• Educate and supervise residents, fellows, medical students and other staff.
