Job summary

Intermountain Health is seeking a General Surgeon for Sevier Valley Hospital in Richfield, Utah. The role includes clinic, operative, and endoscopy duties with inpatient care and shared call responsibilities in a community-based setting.

You will be credentialed through Intermountain and must have an MD or DO, board eligibility or certification in General Surgery, and an active Utah license (or ability to obtain). A generous benefits package and CME allowance are provided.

Responsibilities

  • Provide broad general surgery care in a community setting, including clinic, operative, and inpatient care.
  • Endoscopy involvement with a typical week of 1.5 days endoscopy and OR time.
  • Share call coverage that will evolve as the practice grows.
  • Potential coverage at Sevier Valley Hospital, Delta Community Hospital and Fillmore Community Hospital.

About this role

As a General Surgeon at Sevier Valley Hospital, you will work with a team of healthcare professionals committed to providing quality care and an excellent patient experience. In this role, you will provide broad general surgery care in a community-based setting with a mix of clinic, operative cases, endoscopy, inpatient care, and call responsibilities.

In addition to a primary practice in Richfield, you may also have the opportunity to provide coverage at Delta Community Hospital and Fillmore Community Hospital. If you're passionate about rural medicine, collaborative care, and making a lasting difference in the communities you serve, you'll find a rewarding opportunity to expand access to high-quality surgical services throughout Central Utah.

  • You’ll practice at Sevier Valley Hospital and Sevier Valley Specialty Clinic
  • Clinic schedule Monday-Friday, 7:00 am-4:00 pm
  • Typical week includes 1.5 days endoscopy, one full day in the OR, and variable clinic time.
  • Call coverage is shared among the group and is expected to evolve as the practice grows
  • This position includes a $50K sign-on bonus and up to $20K relocation assistance (if applicable)

Life in Richfield, Utah

With a population of just over 7,000 people and a drawing area of 38,000 the community has all the benefits of a small town yet continues to grow and progress with time. It lies in a valley surrounded by beautiful red rock mountains and snow-covered peaks. With great schools, access to skiing, fishing, rock climbing, horseback riding, camping, mountain biking, ATV riding and golfing the area has something for everyone. Within a 3 hours’ drive you can visit any of 5 national parks or be in Salt Lake City to attend a Utah Jazz basketball game or Utah Symphony performance. Office space is located on the Sevier Valley Medical Center campus that provides the county with 24-hour Emergency service. The hospital's medical staff consists of eight doctors in Family Practice, 2 in General Surgery, and 1 in Radiology. The 3 OR’s (with the ability to add a fourth one) are equipped for laparoscopic, lasers and open procedures.

Sevier Valley Hospital is a nationally recognized Top 20 rural hospital and Level IV Trauma Center located in Richfield, Utah. With 29 licensed beds and a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services, the hospital serves as the primary healthcare resource for Sevier County.
