Job summary

Intermountain Health Cedar City Hospital in Cedar City, Utah is seeking a General Surgeon to help establish a new employed practice with another surgeon. You will split clinic and operating room time and provide patient-centered care across general surgery, including laparoscopic and open techniques.

A robotic platform is anticipated in the near future. The role includes coordinating pre- and postoperative care, with a schedule of two clinic days and two OR days per week and shared call

Qualifications

  • MD/DO degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Board eligible or board certified in General Surgery.
  • ACGME-accredited residency in General Surgery.
  • Active Utah medical license or ability to obtain one.
  • Successful credentialing through Intermountain Health.

About this role:

As a General Surgeon at Cedar City Hospital, you’ll help establish a new employed general surgery practice alongside another experienced surgeon. In this role, you’ll practice in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment, maintaining a balanced mix of clinic and operating room time while delivering high-quality, patient-centered care across a broad range of general surgery conditions.

This role includes coordinating pre- and post-operative care and utilizing a full spectrum of surgical approaches, including minimally invasive techniques such as laparoscopic surgery and traditional open surgical methods. A robotic surgical platform is anticipated in the near future, providing an opportunity to incorporate robotic-assisted techniques as the program expands.

  • Typical schedule includes two clinic days and two OR days per week
  • Shared call coverage with expectations dependent on team size
  • Opportunity to discuss additional clinical interests, with emphasis on maintaining balanced case volumes

What you’ll bring:
  • MD or DO degree from a fully accredited medical or osteopathic school of medicine
  • Board Eligible or Board Certified in General Surgery
  • ACGME-accredited residency training in General Surgery
  • Active, unobstructed Utah medical license, or the ability to obtain one
  • Ability to successfully complete Intermountain Health’s credentialing process

The population of Cedar City is approximately 40,000. The area has recently experienced major population growth, and the trend is expected to continue. The area is known for its breathtaking scenery and is the gateway to the nation’s largest concentration of national parks.
