Job Summary

Morley-Moss, Inc. - Tulsa, Oklahoma - General Superintendent

The General Superintendent would be responsible for overseeing the planning, coordinating, and supervising of the Oklahoma Division field labor. They’re responsible for labor productivity and associated labor costs on projects and providing technical and administrative direction to ensure corporate objectives are met. This role is primarily a field position with the expectation that at least 90% of your time is spent on jobsites performing the essential duties and responsibilities, adhering to all Policy and Safety Procedures. The General Superintendent must be motivated, willing to lead and instruct others, and participate in a team environment as it requires routine interaction and communication between managers, clients, suppliers, and team members.

This position works closely with Project Management staff and reports directly to the Division Manager

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

This is a list of the most prominent duties and responsibilities.

  • Plan and supervise activities determining the construction method, sequencing, manpower levels, material quantities, equipment, and work schedule.
  • Help train and manage other field staff.
  • Manage the day-to-day activities of the construction operation of multiple mid-sized projects simultaneously.
  • In conjunction with the Project Manager, help create and maintain project schedules; plan, monitor, and review critical path dates and milestone schedules.
  • Communicate site problems, conflicts, schedules, and quality issues effectively to the Project Manager and owner.
  • Resolve field construction problems.
  • Maintain open communication between all subcontractors to ensure all required materials, equipment, inspections, etc., supporting project activities and schedule.
  • Monitors field staff & subcontractor compliance with project safety program requirements; ensure weekly safety inspections and toolbox talks are completed; and implements corrective measures.
  • Assist the Safety Department in incident and accident investigations and follow-up.
  • Understand all subcontractors’ scopes; ensure subcontractors maintain schedules and quality standards to meet contract requirements.
  • Assist the Project Manager with subcontractor disputes, quality control, and schedule coordination.
  • Work with the Project Manager and owner’s representatives to ensure work complies with drawings and specifications.
  • Support the Project Manager in the negotiation of claims and changes.
  • Provide input to Project Manager regarding cost and schedule forecasts.
  • Assist the Project Manager with Change Order review.
  • Perform project close-out and ensures the punch list is completed on time.
  • Mentors Project Associates assigned to the project.
Qualifications

REQUIRED

  • Minimum 15 years of work experience as a Superintendent.
  • Proven experience managing projects larger than 20M.
  • Must be a licensed Journeyman (or equivalent)
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
