Job summary

Cherokee Millwright, Inc. is seeking a General Superintendent to forecast and dispatch manpower and equipment to ensure job sites are staffed with skilled labor and that the necessary tools are available to complete each scope.

The role oversees Foremen and Project Superintendents, guiding field operations, approving critical lifts and permits, and coordinating with HR for staff selection and development across projects.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or seven years related construction experience.
  • Experience in millwright, pipefitting, welding, civil works, rigging, piping, plumbing and HVAC.
  • Ability to apply common sense and deal with problems with several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Physical demands include lifting up to 50 pounds and working in varying conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide weekly staffing forecasts to senior management.
  • Ensure Foremen and Project Superintendents have development opportunities.
  • Ensure job sites are staffed with skilled labor and necessary equipment.
  • Provide guidance with field operations such as critical lifts and permits.
  • Assist HR in selecting field employees.
  • Collaborate with Project Superintendents to identify development opportunities for field staff.

Job Summary

The General Superintendent will be responsible for forecasting and dispatching manpower and equipment & tools to ensure all job sites are effectively and efficiently staffed with skilled labor and have the appropriate equipment & tools available to complete requested job scopes.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide weekly staffing forecasts to senior management team
  • Responsible for ensuring professional developmental opportunities for all Foremen are identified and addressed
  • Responsible for ensuring professional developmental opportunities for all Project Superintendents are identified and addressed
  • Ensure all job sites are effectively and efficiently staffed
  • Provide guidance with field operations such as critical lifts, permits, as needed
  • Provide additional NCCCO Rigging Training when required
  • Assist HR department with the selection process of field employees when needed
  • Work with Project Superintendents to evaluate and identify developmental opportunities for all field employees

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Directly supervises Foremen and Project Superintendents.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or seven years related experience and/or training in all aspects of construction oversight including, millwright, pipefitting, welding, civil, rigging, piping, plumbing and HVAC ; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
