BRENTWOOD SCHOOL

Brentwood School, a vibrant and diverse K-12 independent school, is looking for a full-time General Services Technician to begin as soon as possible, reporting to the Facilities Manager.

The General Services Technician is a vital member of the Brentwood School community, responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, welcoming, and well‑prepared campus for students, staff, and guests. This is a hands‑on, service‑oriented role that blends facilities upkeep with event support into a single unified position. Technicians keep the school’s buildings and grounds in excellent condition on a daily basis and are the team that brings events to life — setting up spaces, supporting activities as they happen, and restoring areas when they conclude. The work shifts naturally with the rhythm of the school day and event calendar, and every Technician is cross‑trained and expected to contribute across all areas of the role. General Services Technicians take pride in their work, communicate proactively, and consistently deliver the highest level of care and service to the Brentwood School community.

Shift Options:

Morning (6:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m.) | Mid (10:00 a.m.–6:30 p.m.) | Evening (2:00 p.m.–10:30 p.m.)

Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Maintain cleanliness and appearance of all assigned classrooms, offices, restrooms, common areas, and outdoor spaces across East and West campuses, including mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, buffing, and spot cleaning
  • Wash and disinfect restrooms thoroughly, including floors, fixtures, toilets, toilet seats, hand dryers, and mirrors; replenish toilet tissue, soap, and paper towels as needed
  • Clean entrance and exit doors, glass, hardware, drinking fountains, kitchen sinks, and counters; remove finger marks from walls, doors, and partitions
  • Empty all waste baskets and garbage cans throughout campus; place garbage in designated outdoor storage bins; monitor and maintain trash and recycling receptacles throughout the day
  • Sweep walks, entrances, and exterior areas; pressure wash designated areas on a scheduled basis
  • Prepare event spaces ahead of each event by pre‑cleaning the area and arranging chairs, tables, staging, risers, tents, heaters, lecterns, flags, furnishings, and any other required equipment
  • Wipe down all furniture and surfaces before events; place and position trash and recycling receptacles throughout event areas
  • Be present and attentive during events — monitor spaces, respond promptly to spills or needs, and proactively address any issues that arise to ensure a smooth experience for attendees
  • Conduct full breakdown of all event furniture, equipment, and decorations following each event, returning items to proper storage in an organized manner
  • Perform thorough post‑event cleaning of all spaces, restoring them to full readiness
  • Maintain organized storage and distribution systems for event equipment and supplies; work with the Events Manager and General Services Supervisor to coordinate setups and communicate needs
  • Assist the Facilities Department with receiving, moving, and distributing packages and deliveries across campus
  • Arrange furnishings and equipment for meetings, classroom activities, and other campus functions as directed
  • Perform and report minor maintenance and repair needs to the supervisor; report safety, sanitary, and fire hazards, damages, and acts of vandalism through the appropriate work request system
  • Maintain, clean, and properly store all equipment used in the course of work
  • Drive as needed on behalf of the employer, subject to a satisfactory background check result on employee’s driving record
  • Participate in the Facilities Department training program and all required health, safety, and OSHA training
  • Must be accessible and available in the event of emergencies or when needed to support the ongoing mission of the school
  • Comply with all Brentwood School policies and the Staff Handbook
  • Engage in professional and personal development with a consistent commitment to growth
  • Commitment to fairness and to fostering community
  • Participate and initiate opportunities that demonstrate one’s growth, knowledge, and skills
  • Other duties as assigned by the Facilities Manager, General Services Supervisor, or Senior Administrative Team

  • Flexibility and a positive attitude — comfortable shifting between tasks and responding to changing priorities throughout the day
  • A sense of humor, energy, and genuine enthusiasm for supporting the school community
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.; regularly sit, stand, turn, bend, and reach; work in a variety of indoor and outdoor environments in varying weather conditions
